IHG Rewards Club just launched the latest Accelerate promotion for stays during the period of 1st January to 15th April 2017. These days IHG promotions are usually customized, meaning that they will personalise their offers based on your staying history. This is not good for loyal members who frequent the hotel chain because they will try to make you increase the number of stays you make, which makes perfect sense from a business perspective, whereas brand agnostic guest who do not stay with IHG will get better offers.
As for me, IHG is not my to-go chain because of their lousy elite treatment (Not having free breakfast and lounge access for their Spire elites). Hence when I registered for the offer, it did not seem too shabby.
I will have to complete 6 nights in 2 Crowne Plaza hotels to earn 41,000 points, which works out to roughly 6,800 points per night - enough to redeem a night at a Pointbreaks property.
With the points earned, one can stay at the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, which I had the pleasure of reviewing or the new Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong for a night.
Ultimately people should not stay just for the sake of staying. These promos should only be tapped on if one has to travel in the first place.
