Hilton Hhonors has one of the best promotion this year end, and as much as I wanted to do a staycation at a Hilton property in Singapore, I was bored of the limited options available. Hence I chose to do a night at Westin Singapore instead. It is one of my most favourite SPG property in Singapore because it is modern, chic and new-ish. A night at the Westin would hit one back by $300SGD approximately.
The Westin is located in the Central Business District in Asia Square Tower 2 and occupies level 32-46 of the building, which was where I did my internship too, so i was quite familiar with the place. The location is quite dead during the weekend, but considering I had no intentions of leaving the hotel, the peace and quiet was much appreciated.
After arriving at the hotel, I had to take the elevator to the 32nd floor where the lobby was located.
The lobby was gorgeous with plenty of plush sitting. The high ceilings and panoramic views was a sight to behold. It over looked the port of Singapore, which was just stunning. I headed over to the check in counter and was promptly served by the associate who informed me that there were no suites available and that I have been upgraded to the deluxe executive room. A quick check on the SPG app showed zero availability also, so I was happy with my upgrade. I was informed of all the Platinum benefits and was confirmed for a 4pm checkout.
Complimentary High Speed Internet Access for up to 3 devices in your Westin Executive Club Rooms or Suites, and at the Westin Executive Club Lounge.
Exclusive access to the Westin Executive Club Lounge, where you can enjoy:
Complimentary buffet breakfast with live stations and SuperFoodsRX display. Champagne breakfast is available on weekends.
Evening cocktails and hors d’oevres from 6.00pm to 8.00pm daily.
Complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and cookies throughout the day.
Complimentary usage of a meeting room, for up to 4 people (subject to availability). Consumption of food & beverages are chargeable.
Complimentary local calls.
Complimentary pressing of 3 garments per stay with next day delivery (excludes Express Service).
I then took the elevator to the 46th floor where my room was located. I was assigned room 4627, which was right at the end of the corridor.
The room was very well appointed and the earthly colour scheme of the room made the room very soothing.
The room boasted views of the city and one could see all the way to Chinatown and Queenstown.
The Executive Deluxe room came with an ergonomic chair and a proper desk, which many hotels seem to be unable to get right. (The chair at the Intercontinental was horrendous). The USB charging ports were definitely useful for the ton of gadgets I have. Also on the desk was my welcome amenity, which consists of some delicious cookies and pralines. Call me a millennial or whatever you want, but I am a very lazy person. I am the sort that would rather eat chicken tender than real chicken at KFC cause eating a drumstick is too troublesome. Most of the time when I am given a fruit plate, I never ever touch it, so I appreciate this way more.
Of course there was the signature Westin Heavenly Bed, which was oh-so-comfortable. My only grumble would be that the pillow was a bit too soft for my liking, but a quick call to housekeeping requesting for harder pillows solved that.
The bathroom was my most favourite part of the room, with plenty of space and a bath tub that overlooked the city.
Toiletries were provided by White Tea, which is a Westin Standard and smells amazing.
The infinity pool was beautiful. It is one of the reasons why I wanted to stay in this property in the first place. The view wasn’t that great, but the fact that I was swimming in an infinity pool amongst all the skyscrapers and could even see my office more than made up for it.
The hotel also has a club lounge that was on the 35th floor, right beside the pool. It was spacious and I spent quite some time there working on my final year project. There was free flow of San Pellegrino, which is my absolute favourite beverage whenever I am in hotels. The offerings of the lounge for both afternoon tea and evening cocktails were a little disappointing though. They were of high quality, but they were definitely not filling.
The next day I dragged myself down for breakfast at the Seasonal Tastes restaurant and was slightly disappointed too. There was very little protein and the spread was limited. As there was a huge Korean convention that particular day, it seem as if they specially catered Korean food for them. I for one do not really appreciate that cuisine, so I was not impressed at all.
Since it was the weekends, they were serving champagne breakfast in the lounge, so I headed up for champagne after I was done in the restaurant.
Overall the stay was great, elite recognition was good, staffs were friendly and price was reasonable. Compared to the other SPG offerings in Singapore, Westin is definitely one of my top favourites.
